Kelly Adams

I started flying when I was 8 years old and I knew right then that I wanted to be an airline pilot. I soloed at 16 and became an instructor at 18. I began flying for the airlines just after my 20th birthday for a small airline up in the Northeast. I have flown the BE-99, BE-1900, Saab-340,B-727, MD-80, DC-8, and the B-737 which I am flying now for Continental Airlines.

I started flying with the IAC when I was 17. It was easy going to contests in the early years when I was an instructor or towing banners in Florida. I would meet my father at almost every contest he went to . From Fond du La to Sebring and many in between. The contests and practices became harder to get to as I progressed into the airlines. Then when I started to have more time to get serious about competition again, what do I do, I get married. So, here we go again with the slow down of competition.

I have been flying the Pitts S-1 for more than 20 years and have just moved to the Staudaucher S-300D. I am now at a point in my career and family life where I can really focus on aerobatics. I can’t wait until we get together as a team and start working for this World competition in Poland.

I would like to thank my wife for letting me go to the airport to practice when I am not working at the airlines, my two daughters, that I am happy to say, love going to contests and helping out. All of my close friends in Brenham, Texas that show me so much support. But , most of all, my dad. From my first aerobatic flight, to even now, he has been on the ground watching me. I wouldn’t be here without him.
